Dr. Goldberger is a specialist in Ophthalmic Facial (or Oculofacial) Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is an expert in cosmetic as well as reconstructive surgery. He is one of a select number of surgeons that is a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Because of his training in both Ophthalmology and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, he has specific knowledge and understanding of the functional as well as the cosmetic aspects of treating the complex and delicate tissues surrounding the eyes. Dr. Goldberger receives consults from other physicians throughout the world regarding complex Ophthalmic Facial Plastic Surgery cases.
Dr. Goldberger has been in practice since 1991 and has performed well over ten thousand procedures. His training started at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. He received his Medical Doctor degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Subsequently, he completed an internship in Medicine at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York followed by an Ophthalmology residency at the White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was accepted to and attended the prestigious fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto. Having completed all requirements and examinations, he was board certified in Ophthalmology in 1991 and became a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1992. Dr. Goldberger's teaching credentials include being Assistant Clinical Professor, Ophthalmology, USC School of Medicine and Childrens Hospital of LA. He was a member of the craniofacial Team at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and has authored numerous scientific papers, served as a reviewer for national scientific journals, and has written a book chapter.
